So this is my book’s working title, written in its subject’s own hand. It’s not fiction. It’s not comics. It’s not reportage. I’m not sure what it is.
But it finally got a finalizing punch in the arm tonight due to the generosity of strangers on the internet and a decade-old website. Added to the massive amounts of weird confluence that have followed me since I first thought about this way back the year 2000, I feel compelled to finally make it exist.
So I’m buckling down, slaving over photoshop and trying to remember indesign and taking copious notes and figuring out how to format indices and calculating printer costs and wondering about letterpress and commissioning illustrations.
I will probably be begging for money shortly after that.
It’s going to be shameless and exciting, I cannot wait to reveal it.

So I’m writing about Kickstarter projects for Comics Alliance now. It’s still in the birthing stages, but we’re basically covering comics-related projects, running the $cams & flam$ test on them and hopefully giving some worthwhile books a chance to meet new readers and supporters.

The very first one, covering this great lesbian/werewolf/hammer film horror book, ANATHEMA, is up right here.

I got a chance to read the first issue and it is ridiculously up my alley. I have a little experience writing about werewolves and ANATHEMA is a really dark, clever take on the notion. I hope it hits its funding on behalf of good comics, good horror and good people. Now that my journalistic responsibility is met, I’m going to go donate the money I got for writing this piece to ANATHEMA. You should too.
